RBTM Receives $650 Grant to Further Org’s Mission

Funding Will Go To College Access Event

Bowie, MD –With just a month away from the biannual college workshop, the RBTeaM is excited to announce that the organization has received $650 from the Ron Brown Scholar Community Fund. The program is dedicated to providing grants, scholarships and opportunities focused on civic engagement, public service and community relations to young African Americans. RBTM, Inc. hopes to utilize the funding to continue the organization’s mission in providing resources and tools for students in disadvantaged communities.

The grant is primarily targeted at supporting RBTM’s The College Workshop Part II, which will take place on December 12, 2015 at Oxon Hill High School. The event –consisting of a college application panel, break-out sessions, personal college application editing and advice sessions – is geared towards seniors currently applying for college but all students are welcome to attend.

In response to the great news, President of RBTM, Inc. Faith Jackson issued the following statement. Jackson is the recipient of the Brown Scholar Fund:

“We are very excited for this opportunity that will undoubtedly help us serve our clients with the necessary tools they need to succeed. But this is only the first step of RBTM, Inc.’s mission. Our hope is that we continue to assist young individuals looking to further their education by applying to college regardless of their circumstances. We believe that everyone has the innate capacity to succeed in whatever they wish to do –whether it is going to the private sector, becoming an academic scholar, or helping others in the community. This grant is an important foundation for what we hope to achieve and we cannot wait to do more.”

The College Workshop Par II is a follow-up to the organization’s first college advising event held in June that helped to guide students on how to use the summer to prepare for the following application season. It is slated to feature students from Harvard, Princeton, Seton Hall, Howard, and other schools sharing on their academic, campus life and college application experiences, and joining with other education professionals to provide advice to those applying to college this cycle.

The RBTeaM is very excited to have the funding and resources to put on an even larger event than the last, and looks forward to leveraging this funding to help students realize their scholastic dreams:
